Your broken resolves are the main culprits behind the addictions. But here is one diet that has not only proved to be effective but had also been able to satisfy my vegetarian palette is Low Glycemic Index diet or Low GI diet. Unlike popular low carbohydrate diets that allow the dieters to eat high fats but put a restriction on their carbohydrate intakes, GI allows the user to eat everything in moderation.
Low GI diet which is gaining popularity was first introduced in early 70’s to assist diabetes patients in controlling blood sugar levels. A greater emphasis is put on eating fruits and food which lies on a low GI and are rich sources of fibres and roughage that also helps in controlling the blood sugar levels.
The diet lays focus on eating good carbs like whole grains, vegetables and fruits that help you feeling satiated for longer time period thereby promoting weight loss. A low GI diet is typically filled with fruits, vegetables and carbohydrates having higher roughage and also promotes eating of good fats rich in Omega 3 fatty acids which are present in dry fruits and nuts like walnuts.

I am fat. I want to loose weight and become fit and healthy. This is my honest confession, as it is said that acceptance is the first step towards solving the problem. I has always nurtured a secret dream of owning flashboard abs like Angelina Jolie and often started my sojourn but failed to reach the final destination.
I have fretted, cursed but have always been unable to accept the real reasons for my failure. But as I vow again to make a fresh start here are some of the lethal combinations which had always held me back from attaining higher levels of fitness and weight loss:
- Men by nature love to save, but if you really are on a weight loss goal then leave behind this philosophy while ordering at restaurants. For its true that you can enjoy a larger dish by spending a dollar extra, but bigger dish also amounts to higher calories. Therefore it is better to follow the philosophy that a penny saved is a penny gained and in this case dollar saved equates to health gain.
- Stop visiting post Christmas and Halloween sales to refurbish your dwindling candy stock. Out of sight, out of mind holds true especially when your will power is at its all time low. So clear your home of all the tempting goodies and colas which adds inches to your waistline but do nothing for your overall fitness level. Stop baking cookies for your kids and family as this is just an excuse to put some really calorie rich stuff in your own mouth. Make your family extend their full support to help you reach your weight loss goal.
- Last but not the least, food is for nourishment and should not be used as a comfort item when you are on an emotional see saw. Don’t turn toward food when you are depressed or excited because then this lovely friend will turn into your worst foe.
A great philosopher once wrote that “Our health always seems much more valuable after we lose it”. So instead of loosing our health and fitness lets loose weight by keeping above bad habits at bay.
